Response Officer nabs burglar in Durbanville
Thanks to the swift action of an Armed Response Officer a suspect was caught red-handed on May,12. ADT Armed Response Officer Siyabulela Mvula was patrolling the area at midday when he received a call from the ADT control about an alarm activation in Durbanville.
The client, who did not wish to be named, said: “I received a call from ADT saying that my alarm had gone off and that they were sending a response unit to the house.”
Officer Mvula said: “When I arrived at the premises minutes later, I checked the front of the house and found nothing, I managed to gain access over the perimeter wall. When I was in the back garden I noticed that two sliding doors were broken, I thought that the suspect may still be in the house so I went around the corner to take cover and waited for him to come out. About two minutes later I saw him leaving the house and apprehended the suspect.”
According to Mvula, the police and ADT back-up arrived minutes later. The suspect was taken to Durbanville Police Station.
The client said: “When I arrived there were four ADT cars and two police vans outside my house. I was very impressed with the service I received because the armed response officer had to climb over my wall, which is not easy and also; two of the ADT officers stayed behind to assist me in getting a glass company out immediately to fix my sliding door.”
“I’d like to thank the ADT Officer Mvula for coming to my rescue for the second time in two years. Later that day a Durbanville Police Detective also arrived to take my statement – thank you Durbanville police,” said the client.
Rob Dale, Managing Director of ADT Security Western Cape said: “Well done to Officers Mvula, and all involved in their swift action in apprehending the suspect. ADT would like to take this opportunity to remind clients to fit suitable locks or bolts to all sliding doors to prevent them from being lifted off their tracks, as this is one of the most common methods used by burglars on sliding doors and windows.”
