City repeats ‘Free
Friday’ for MyCiTi bus service
on 2 and 9 July
Friday 2 July and 9 July will again
be ‘Free
Fridays’
on Cape Town’s MyCiTi IRT bus service, following on the success of the first
Free Friday last week (25 June).
The City of Cape Town offered free rides
on the MyCiTi inner-city bus loop to all Capetonians and visitors this past
Friday. A
total of 2115 free rides were registered.
All rides on the inner-city loop route
will be free, starting at 00:00
on Friday morning and ending at midnight Friday (for both 2 July and 9 July
2010).
The MyCiTi inner-city service has been
specifically provided for the World Cup period and the City wants residents to
experience this service as it offers a taste of the public transport system
envisaged for Cape Town. Rides on the inner-city loop cost R8 per trip.
A permanent shuttle service between the
Civic Centre and Cape Town International Airport is also in operation, at R50 a
ride.
